The Graduate Students' Union or Aontas na nIarchéimithe in Irish is an independent body which represents graduate students in Trinity College, Dublin. All graduate students of the College, including postgraduate research students and those on higher degree and higher diploma courses, automatically become members of the Union upon registering with the College. Although the GSU works in partnership with the Students' Union, the GSU is the only postgraduate representative organisation recognised by College.

As you my have noticed the GSU website is undergoing a substantial upgrade at the moment. We have upgraded our server, upgraded our software and a new, expanded and interactive site will be launched in September.
The Journal of Postgraduate Research which was recently launched in TCD (July 5th) saw Celia Grace Kenny, a postgraduate student in Trinity’s Irish School of Ecumenics (ISE), take the award for ‘Best Paper’ for her submission, ‘Private Parts in Public Spaces: A Feminist Ethic of Embodiment’, a feminist, poststructuralist analysis of Western beauty practices. The Journal, which is published annually by the Graduates’ Students Union (GSU), aims to showcase the breadth of Trinity College’s research talent.

The GSU, effective immediately, now does business through the Front Office in House 6 (ground floor, opposite the SU shop). All ticket, key and membership sales can now be transacted in the Front Office between 9.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, as well as basic enquiries. The President and Vice-President will still have office clinic hours (updated weekly on the website), and appointments can be made easily by emailing president@gsu.tcd.ie or vicepresident@gsu.tcd.ie
The GSU has had its work cut out for many years, with a rapidly growing postgrad community but a static budget. Since the position of Vice-President was made full-time five years ago, long-term finances have been a source of uncertainty for the GSU. We are delighted to announce that, like the shiny new toilets in the 1937 Reading Room, we have solved the problem. After lengthy negotiations with our sister union, the GSU has secured a significant increase to our annual funding, sufficient to secure the second full-time officership and allow for a strategic expansion of the GSU and its activities.
